Hi,
1. Do you get any bluescreen error code or message?
First of all we need to disable the automatic restart on system failure and then we can check if the issue exists in clean boot state or not.
Method 1.
Step 1. Disable the Automatic Restart to prevent the restarts on system failure.
a. When your computer starts keep pressing F8 on your keyboard till you get the Advanced Boot Options screen.
b. Now, use arrow keys, select Disable automatic restart on system failure and press Enter.
Step 2. Start the application in clean boot state and check if it works fine.
Refer to the article below for steps about how to start your computer in clean boot state.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: When the troubleshooting is over do not forget to reset the computer to normal startup. Follow the step 7 in the above article.
Method 2.
Type eventvwr.msc /s in the address bar.
List any events that are listed as "Error" in the main window when you go to "Windows Logs" and "Application." There are often a lot of them. Send us whichever ones you see listed for the last couple days. (Please also do for the logs in "System"). When you do, provide us the name of the "Source" and whatever is listed in the description box below the list of logs when you click on one.

I have yet to do method 1, but I have had a BSOD so I know the screen is enabled and the only services/startup programs I have are microsoft ones, ATI catalyst and google up date. However, once my computer shuts down again I'm happy to try it. As far as method two goes, the only errors listed are Schannel 10, which from my understanding is just from google chrome not reaching an SSL connection properly and the few saying that windows did not shut down properly.

Check that the your computer is set to write a report to the Event log.
Select Start, Control Panel, System, Advanced System Settings, StartUp and Recovery, Settings. Check the box before "Write an event to the system log". Click on OK and Apply. restart your computer and confirm that the change has been accepted.
You can get situations when reports are not written to an event log. Commonly when the error occurs before the event logging service starts. Another situation is a sudden power failure given system no time to write a report. Otherwise there are various scenarios where something is wrong with system.
What is the computer make and model? Is it a desktop or a laptop?
Have you contacted the supplier of the computer about the problem? When does the warranty expire?
The fourth post in the next link may help with the Schannel error:

The computer is set to write reports to the event log. It is a desktop built by myself. These errors never happened with XP, and didn't happen with the first 2 or 3 weeks I was using win 7. There was no change in software or hardware after the first three days that I installed win 7, which makes this situation really odd.
The heat readings look fine and the PSU is rated to handle my system under 100% load. I can list the hardware if you think it's relevant, but like I said, it worked fine with XP and the first 2-3 weeks with windows 7 was perfectly fine too.
Thanks for the help!

Download and run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&familyid=1b544e90-7659-4bd9-9e51-2497c146af15
What did you use to install Windows 7? A full version on an upgrade disk? What version of Windows 7 is installed? Was it installed on a newly formatted drive?
What do you have in terms of drives, partitions etc? Have you created a dual booting computer?
Where did you get updated drivers from?
Hope this helps, Gerry Cornell

It was a full upgrade disk for Home Premium 64. I completely reformatted the drive that had XP on it. I have two partitions, but the second is solely for files. (ie, not second OS)
Windows 7 installed all of the drivers for me, minus the most up to date video drivers which I did myself. (straight from ATI)
The upgrade advisor says: anytime upgrade available, 4 system requirements passed, 8 devices listed as compatible and 4 programs listed as compatible.
Since this appears to only happen at 100% load times I'm beginning to wonder if my PSU has deteriorated and can't handle 100% load anymore. It would explain the shut downs with no BSOD and no error event writing.

I would investigate the need for updated third party drivers.
What is the motherboard make and model?
What is the graphics card make and model?
Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? If yes what is the Device Error code?
To access Device Manager type Device Manager in the Search box above the Start button.
Hope this helps, Gerry Cornell

No drivers have a yellow question mark. All drivers appear to be up to date.
M/B: Biostar GF 8100 M2+ SE
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5770
Also, if it was a driver error, wouldn't it leave a BSOD?

As a general rule yes but there are situations which can arise where the answer is no.
You can get errors occurring when Event Viewer is not running i.e. e.g. at the beginning of the boot process. A sudden power failure allowing no opportunity for a report to be generated. If the system has not been configured to generate a report. I do not have a complete list.
Where there is a system failure generating a BSOD you may not get a memory dump if the computer is not correctly set up. Thus if there is no pagefile on the system partition.
Select, Start, Control Panel, System, Advanced System Settings, Advanced, StartUp and Recovery Settings. Check that "Write an Event to the system log" has been selected.
There are no Windows 7 drivers listed for your motherboard. The inference from the next link is that Windows 7 is not supported.

Do you have the latest BIOS?

On the drivers page it lists Vista and Win 7 drivers as the same link. Also, The win 7 upgrade tool you had me download earlier said my M/B was compatible.
My BIOS is indeed out of date, but if the PC boots up fine and can run for long periods of time without issues why would the BIOS being out of date be a possible cause? I'm not trying to be rude, I do very much appreciate your help but I don't want to endeavor updating my BIOS if I'm not sure it's the cause.
